Fellowship-Trained Neurosurgeon Joins Practice
Fellowship-trained neurosurgeon Matthew McGirt, MD, recently joined the Huntersville and Charlotte offices of Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates. He completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at John Hopkins in Baltimore, where he also completed his neurosurgical residency. Dr. McGirt is a graduate of Duke University Medical School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Duke University. Dr. McGirt also served as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is currently an adjunct research associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a research fellow at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. Dr. McGirt’s special interests include complex and minimally invasive spinal surgery, spinal fusion and general neurosurgery.
